Wellbeing
Student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
At Peakhurst West Public School, we follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework. Our students are expected to:
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Safe
These values guide student behaviour not only at school, but also in the wider community, helping students to make positive choices wherever they are. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based framework that brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to the school counsellor and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.

Gotcha4Life
Gotcha4Life’s Mentally Fit Primary Schools program is a partnership helping schools embed mental fitness across the whole school community. With a focus on prevention, the program supports students, staff, and families through simple daily habits, consistent language, and evidence-based tools that make a lasting difference.
At Peakhurst West Public School, we believe that supporting our students goes beyond the classroom. Building strong mental fitness helps our children understand their emotions, build positive relationships, and face challenges with confidence. This program is part of our commitment to fostering wellbeing and resilience, giving students the skills and habits they need for lifelong mental health.
Our students have been enjoying learning ways to strengthen their mental fitness through the exploration of three key protective factors:
