Combined Schools Music Festival

Every year, both the choir, junior and senior dance group at PWPS participated in the Combined Music Festival at Bankstown Sports club. This event showcases talented students from local primary schools.

Public Speaking Competitions

Students build confidence, critical thinking and communication skills through debating and public speaking opportunities. Through school, local and state competitions, students learn to express their ideas, work collaboratively and confidently share their voice with others.

Colour Fun Run

Our Colour Fun Run is an exciting whole-school event that brings students, staff and families together for a day of fun, fitness and school spirit. Students make their way through the colourful course, enjoying plenty of colour, laughter and excitement along the way. The event promotes active lifestyles while building connection and creating memorable experiences across our school community.

Education Week Open Day

During Public Education Week, we proudly welcome families into our school to celebrate the learning, creativity and achievements of our students. Each year, families are invited to visit our open classrooms and enjoy a Creative Arts concert showcasing our talented students. The celebrations conclude with a family picnic, providing a wonderful opportunity for students, staff and families to connect and celebrate our vibrant school community together.

Inclusive Sport

2025 marked the first year of PWPS competing in Inclusive Sport offerings of Boccia and Ten Pin Bowling. This is a sport opportunity for students with a disability. In Boccia, the PWPS team made it to the State Finals where they finished 15th. In Ten Pin Bowling, the PWPS made it to the State Finals and finished with a Bronze medal.

NAIDOC Week and Reconcilation Week

Each year, our school proudly recognises NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week through meaningful learning experiences and activities that deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. Students come together to learn and reflect, strengthening respect, connection and our shared commitment to reconciliation across the school community.

Talent Show

Our K–4 Talent Show gives students the opportunity to step into the spotlight and showcase their unique talents, creativity and confidence. From singing and dancing to comedy and special skills, the event celebrates individuality, builds confidence and brings our school community together to cheer on our talented performers.

Easter Hat Parade

Our Easter Hat Parade is a much-loved whole-school celebration that brings students, families and staff together. K–2 students proudly parade their creative Easter hats while Years 3–6 cheer them on, before everyone comes together for a family picnic lunch and fun Easter-themed games and activities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity, connection and school community.

Book Week

Each year, our school comes alive for Book Week, celebrating the joy of reading, imagination and storytelling. Students enjoy a range of activities, including our much-loved Book Parade and Book Fair, providing opportunities to discover new stories, celebrate favourite characters and foster a lifelong love of reading.

Lunch Time Clubs

During lunchtime, students can take part in a range of fun and engaging clubs, including dance, choir, art, chess and card games. These opportunities encourage creativity, teamwork and problem-solving while helping students discover new interests, build friendships and connect with others beyond the classroom.

Presentation Day

Our Presentation Day is a special end-of-year celebration recognising the achievements, growth and successes of our students. Awards are presented across a range of areas, including class learning, academic achievement, citizenship, leadership and sporting excellence. The occasion also marks an exciting moment for our school community as we announce our new student leaders for the following year. It is a wonderful opportunity for students, staff and families to come together and celebrate the dedication, accomplishments and leadership of our students.

Year 6 Fairwell

Our Year 6 Fairwell is a special evening celebration marking the end of our students’ primary school journey. Year 6 students, families and staff come together to reflect on treasured memories, celebrate achievements and recognise the friendships and experiences that have shaped their time at Peakhurst West. It is a memorable occasion that celebrates how far our students have come and the exciting next chapter ahead.

PSSA Sporting Competitions

Our students enjoy a wide range of sporting opportunities, including PSSA competitions, knockout sports, gala days, school carnivals and specialist programs such as St George Dragons and ALF Auskick clinics. These experiences encourage teamwork, resilience and school spirit while helping students develop their skills, stay active and build a lifelong appreciation for sport and physical activity.

Science Week Activities

During Science Week, students take part in exciting hands-on investigations, experiments and challenges that bring science to life. Through exploring, questioning, creating and problem-solving, students develop their curiosity and scientific thinking while discovering how science connects to the world around them.

Sports Carnivals

Our School Sports Carnivals bring students together to participate, compete and celebrate school spirit. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to take part in our swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals, developing their skills, resilience and sportsmanship while striving for their personal best and cheering on their peers.

Harmony Day

Our Harmony Day celebrations bring our school community together to recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultures, backgrounds and traditions that make Peakhurst West Public School special. Through engaging activities and shared experiences, students learn about respect, inclusion and belonging, celebrating the message that everyone belongs.

Excursions and Incursions

Through a range of engaging incursions and excursions, our students extend their learning beyond the classroom, explore new environments and enjoy hands-on experiences that build curiosity, confidence and real-world connections.
